About Michalis Theodosiou
Michalis Theodosiou is a trans-disciplinary artist working with various mediums and subjects based in Cyprus. After finishing his studies in the UK he has been working as a freelance artist and a tutor at Paphos Studios of Art and Design since 2020.
Michali's work expresses the love for life, the celebration of beauty, strength and at the same time the vulnerability of human existence. The Cypriot landscape surrounds "his" figures.
Reflecting on time, culture and a sense of nostalgia, he is preoccupied with daily events and scenes that may seem small. It also exposes the intimate time he has with his family and his interactions with the community. This reflection allows him to put forward everyday moments and transform them into art. Manifesting the ''slice of life'' theme in his pieces he is trying to bring up to the spectators the opportunity to appreciate these simple and important moments that shape our lives.
The vivid colours that are dominant in his work offer an artistic excitement inspired by short stories of the past combining objective observation and the feelings he has for the people he paints.
